to kill a mockingbird

I liked and disliked "to kill a mocking bird" for different reasons. I found this book very depressing and I did not like the language they used back then. The story seemed to be the same in each chapter and it always took place in the same area. Although the general idea of the book was a good lesson to teach and readers should learn it, I felt the book was dragged on. All of the events were similar and there wasn't enough action in it. I liked the book because of the basica idea, racism. It was interesting to learn how it was back then and what life was like. I would have the book a better read if it talked about The Great Depression more and explained the events leading up to it. If more histroy was put into this story it would be more exciting. I wouldn't suggest other people to read this book and I don't think it should be studied in class. I am more into Mystery and Horror books and feel that those books should be studied more. (:
